GAMC Texas Mission Trip 2019

In February 2019 a team from Great Ayton Methodist Church are taking 6 young people, aged, 15-17 from the church's open youth group to Texas to work with a church from Houston that we have partnered with for a number of years. We'll stay with them for a week in the homes of church members. The team and young people will learn about the church there and help with that church's work in its local area. The young people will spend time with good role models, learn about themselves and grow emotionally and socially. It is an opportunity that some of the young people would not have access to otherwise.
In order to support he young people properly a team of 6 adult leaders from the church, including Ruth and Steve Smith. We expect the total cost of the trip to be around £12k (around £1,000 each) and all the team are doing a wide range of individual and group activities to raise money to help fund the trip.
As one of their fund raising activities Ruth and Steve Smith are walking the Cleveland Way long distance walk and are asking for sponsors for this walk. The walk begins in Helmsley, follows the Cleveland Hills to the coast at Saltburn, follows the cliffs down the coast to end at Filey and is a total of 110 miles
The walk will take place over 9 days in August (11-19) with overnight stays along the route. Daily distances average 10-12 miles with the longest day entailing a walk of around 22 miles.
