Gaby's Tiles of Hope/Art of Hope

Hello, on August 27, 2018 my Grandpa went to Heaven after a short battle with cancer.

When my Mom took me to see him I asked her how people were supposed to feel better or not be so scared when all they had were white ceilings to look at; beeping machines, scary sounds and nothing else to focus on. When we left, I wondered if that was the last thing my Grandpa would remember. When we were leaving I asked my Mom what could be done to change this. What did I need to do to be able to create something for them to look at instead of the white ceiling and all that is going on around them? My Mom always says the worse question is the one that isn't asked, she told me to write a letter and let's see what the hospital has to say. Worse they could say was no right? Texas Health Plano was the hospital I last saw my Grandpa, so I set out to write my letter as part of a project at school called Genius Hour, where students are supposed to create things to teach about, inventions etc. My project was to write my letter and ask to create ONE tile for ONE room there in memory of my Grandpa and in the hopes of helping someone else. The President of the Hospital wrote back and guess what? I got my project. I began over the summer, and I created 5 tiles, since then I have created 5 more and my goal is 40 to fill every room in the Emergency Department where I last saw my Grandpa.

My Mom wanted to donate the supplies for my project, and she has so far, but we thought that maybe someone else would like to help and be part of this vision and dream of mine. I use a variety of supplies to paint and I never know what I am going to use at the moment until my creative spark begins! Your donation would go towards mostly primer, paint, more brushes and sealant. It would mean so much to me to know that other people in this world care as much as I do, and a little part of you would be a part of the hope and love I put in each of my paintings. You can follow my journey on my Instagram page and find me under: gabysartofhope Thank you so much from my heart to yours.

EDIT MADE 8/20/2019

Since we began this, we have now come up with another endeavor that will continue to support Gaby's passion, and love of art and for her Grandpa. Her first goal is to complete the 40 tiles she was entrusted with by Texas Health Plano, the remaining proceeds will then go to continued art supplies as art canvases will be created for sale. A portion of the proceeds will go to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation as this was what her Grandfather lost his battle to. I will be posting photos of her art creations and every single step of what we do to donate a portion of the funds to this foundation, on Instagram, so please be sure to follow: gabysartofhope on Instagram for the latest updates. We sincerely appreciate each and every one of you. Erica (Gaby's Mom)
