Help for the Stafford Family in London

Donation protected
We write this as colleagues, co workers, relatives, friends and neighbours of Brent and Marissa Stafford and their young family.

As many of you already know, the Staffords have unfortunately arrived at one of the biggest challenges and heartaches a family can possibly endure.

As we all live our lives expecting to enjoy the so called "traditional" rights of passage through adulthood to senior living and all of the wonderful moments in between...occasionally these rights are taken from us far too soon. This is the case for Marissa and her girls Marlowe and Macy.

This week we reached out once again to Marissa to see where we could help, if at all, and if we could understand the challenges they have faced the past many months as a family, and most importantly, the impact of the prognosis for Brent.

As you read her response, we would like to reach out to those that can, to make a donation to the Go Fund Me website to ease the financial burden of the impact of what lies ahead for this young family.

We sincerely thank you for your appreciation and consideration of assisting with this heartbreaking and challenging Stafford Family circumstance.

From Marissa:

Brent was a man who loved to be young at heart. His friends, his children, his family adored his humour and quick wit.
Early in January news that Cancer had struck his Colon was determined. After an Emergency Ileostomy in February had him in the hospital for 2weeks he continued to work to help support his family even through some very painful days. April 1st he started Chemotherapy and radiation to treat the cancer and shrink the tumour. He was fighting and carrying on with his head high. 2 weeks later he was rushed to University Hospital where they performed a 27hr Open Heart surgery to his Aorta that had torn open and dissected. Cancer treatment stopped and this left Brent on life support in ICU. His wife and 2 daughters patiently waiting for news that Daddy would come home. As the weeks passed Brent looked as though recovery was in the distance but would be a long road. He was still very sick from Total Organ Failure.
After 4 weeks we were told his graft where the surgery had taken place may be infected and was quite a serious problem, this would be lethal. Although they could keep the infection at bay with Antibiotics there would be no way to treat the cancer if this infection persisted.
At almost 5 weeks Brent made the request to give up the fight, he is too weak and understands there is no way out.
As family and friends visit you can see how Brent has touched their lives and how deep Brent’s impact and love was.
His 2 young daughters have been told their Daddy won’t be coming home...an unfair tragedy to lose their Dad so young. No child deserves this news. Our struggle will continue to get over this loss and in the days and years to come we hope that we will have the strength to carry on with his memory.

Sadly, we learned that Brent passed peacefully last night with Marissa by his side……
