For over 2 decades students, community members and teachers from the Ithaca-Cortland area have been traveling to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. Our lives have been changed by the people and families who take us in every year. Below is a 'mission statement' of a group of women who have a 'PROJECT PROPOSAL' to start a restaurant-snack bar.
GENERAL PURPOSE
Developing a comidería and snack bars to generate income to support women single mothers and unemployed poor specific Objective
Create fund to support unemployed women and single mothers.
We are a group of 6 women and unemployed single mothers who are taking the most initiative to expand a little more an existing small business, as demand has been increasing we for that reason we are deciding to seek support through you . Since we are the sole provider for our family with young children who are studying .
The people who make up the group we are :
Maria Soza, Paula Hodgson, Luci Hodgson, Katherine Garcia Soza, Norma Hooker, Alicia Hooker, Isabelle Morales
They have been selling soup, tortillas, coconut bread and small dinner plates outside of the Verbo Church in Puerto Cabezas on Sundays successfully for over a year. They are ready to create a year round, permanent business.
