Friendly Universal Telecom - Expansion 2019

Donation protected

Friendly Universal Telecom is the friendliest telecommunications group ever. In fact, we're so friendly, all of our technicians are guaranteed to have never said a single curse word in their entire lives. Plus our service is also top of the line, or at least it would be if people would pay their bills. But since they didn't, we're making a very big FRIENDLY request for some funding, and we hope that all the people who skipped out on their bills go friend themselves.

We know times can be hard in this extremely friended up world, despite all the friendly people we see everywhere. But if you could look deep in your heart and toss us a few dollars, we will put that money to good friendly use adding payphones, replacing/updating our equipment, and working to provide even better service than before at every festival event we attend.

We also have added Patreon as an option. If you would like to throw us a few dollars every month, with some possible perks, it would be very useful in our continued expansion efforts. Every year we (as in Dale) spends hundreds of dollars upgrading equipment to try to make FUT even better. So any help is appreciated.

FUT GoFundMe 2019 funding drive.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of our pay phone service -- and the almost total non-payment of bills for all of our services -- we are doing a funding drive to buy more pay phones and to increase the reliability of our network so it can be better relied upon as part of safety infrastructure.

Problem 1:

At Myschevia 2018, only one camp bothered to pay their bill. And even then, our collections agent, for reasons that are pending litigation, decided to accept sexual favors from the MeeMaws in lieu of payment. And apart from a corndog and faygo ticket, our coffers are empty.

Problem 2:

Everyone loves the payphones, but we only have 3 of them in working order. And only 1 of them will work in a remote location without power.  We also have 3 non-working payphones for parts, which may or may not be salvageable.

In short, we need more phones and batteries. Adding battery power to pay phones and routers means they will work even if a nearby camp loses power -- or even if there are no nearby camps, like in open camping.

We also need chargers for the batteries we do have to power our network routers. That way the network itself will also survive a power loss, in addition to its existing mesh network healing capabilities.

Problem 3:

I've just been informed that the corndog and faygo ticket has expired.

Goal:

At every burn we have heard of at least one person needing to make an important call to Rangers or someone else for some sort of emergency. We also love the look of an LED arted pay phone on the side of the road.

Thus, our goal is to add more pay phones and make the network and phones more reliable, more visible, and to play a bigger role as part of the safety infrastructure of the burns we attend.

Can you help us?
