Funerary Expenses for Ms. Deb

Donation protected
Ms. Deb was told late May during a trip to the emergency room that she had stage four cancer in her lungs, liver and stomach. Originally, she and Jim were told that she would have 3-6 months and that there may be some treatment options available but she would need to meet with the oncologist for that information. They went to see the oncologist and were told that Deb's body wouldn't likely be able to be strong enough to handle chemo or radiation therapies. Ever the fighter, Deb elected to have a central line/ port inserted in the hopes that by her next visit to see the oncologist, they would think she was strong enough to start some sort of chemotherapy. At her next visit, she was told that there were no treatments that would be able to slow down the progression, and that likely she was looking at a more realistic 3-4 weeks instead.

Last week she ended up having to go to the ER again for pain management. On the 20th, She was admitted to the hospital. Jim was told that things were not looking good, and that they needed to have a palliative care consult to determine what options she and he had available for her care.

The palliative care team explained to Jim and the kids that Ms. Deb's body is trying so hard to compensate for what the cancer is doing to her, but she is not going to be able to keep fighting this hard for long. They are currently giving her a time frame of 3-4 days. She is currently receiving medications to help keep her pain under control and keep her otherwise comfortable.

Ms. Deb is a force of nature and has affected everyone that she comes in contact with. She is loved by many of us, and she loves us all with her whole heart. Right now, Jim is asking for time alone with Ms. Deb so that he can get the time he needs with her. I know that you all will be willing to respect that. We are taking care of everything we can for Jim, and trying to give him the support he needs through all this.

For those of you concerned about her family, Jon is being well taken care of by another one of Ms. Deb's family members. The beloved pups are also being cared for, so that Jim can spend longer periods of time at the hospital.

We are a big loving community, and I know everyone reading this would like like to know how they can help right now. There is a meal train that is being set up for the family already, but there is currently no money set aside for funerary expenses. Please give whatever you can to help make sure that when Ms. Deb moves on to the next world, her remains will recieve the dignified treatment they deserve.
