Funeral Expenses and Foreclosure

Donation protected
My father died the other week. Diagnosed with stage 4 cancer throughout his body, he was given a terminal sentence in February at the age of 61.

My family has always been an example of Murphy’s law; anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, but we have always persisted and made it through. My parents have spent the past decade and more working hard to get back on their feet, constantly slammed with bouts of unemployment and unfortunate events (from car accidents, to massive flooding, to so much more) that just never let them recoup. Shortly after learning he had cancer, my parents were hit with foreclosure.

My dad spent the remainder of his days between chemo for the pain (his hip bone was one of the afflicted places) and selling what little he had by dragging it out to the driveway and slapping a for sale sign on it. He even tried to sell the house while he laid in bed sick, with people walking around him as they viewed the house. Insurance companies slyly offered life insurance policies that would only kick in if he made it a full year. Unable to afford cable TV, Internet, or cell service, he would spend his time in bed watching movies over and over, for months, unable to drive or leave his home.

He passed on the morning of July 25. He had no life insurance and had been unable to save the house. It took our combined savings just to have him cremated. We struggle to figure out how to pay for a memorial, how to convince the electric company to not turn off the power, and how to come up with the means to move.

After a lifetime of things always going wrong, I am finally asking for help. Help to give my dad a memorial service and to honor his remains. Help to finally give my mom relief from all the bills/medical expenses and safety in a place to live. She has sacrificed everything for her family and is left with no foundation to carry on. Anything you can spare to help is immensely appreciated. Thank you!
