Funds for Rosebud Reads Literacy

Hi, I'm Kate and I'm a member of the Rosebud Sioux tribe located in South Dakota. I have always loved reading, and after my visits to the Rosebud Sioux reservation, I realized the need for more educational opportunities for the youth. I decided to begin collecting books from my friends and neighbors and drove hundreds of books to the reservation. I have noticed that although the kids are excited to read and receive new books, most of them do not read at grade level and need more educational opportunities in the summmer time. This summer, I will be leading a bookclub at the local Boys and Girls Club and will also be handing out books to youth at the Tree of Life Ministry in Mission, South Dakota. For the book club, I will need to purchase 60 copies of Flat Stanley and also will need to buy markers, chalk, and other art supplies for the children. I will also need funds to purchase books from Half Priced Books to supplement the donations I have received from friends and neighbors. My goal is $3000 so that I can continue to buy books throughout the year and bring them to the reservation. I truly am passionate about promoting literacy among the next generation of natives living on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, and would greatly appreciate your help in realizing my goals.
