FUNDRAISING FOR PAORINHER ORPHANAGE

Registered Charity Number: 1163684

After the civil war that took place in northern Uganda, many children were left behind without guidance, direction and a hope for the future. Many lost not just their homes and families but also had their mental peace and innocense stripped away. Children as young as seven years old were abducted and forced to kill their own family members in order to instill fear into them whilst forcing them to pledge their allegance to the LRA and its dictator. Young girls were used as sex slaves and as a result, diseases such as HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases became a harsh reality in their community . What started out as an orphanage, in 2007, has now developed into a school that accommodates around 700 students that provides not just a home for its residents, but a body of support and a hope for the future of its students. Using education as its main tool to redeem some of that which was lost, Paorinher has become a respected school which actively takes in residential orphans and promises to provide the best teaching and support that they are able to offer.

To date, some of PAORINHER'S success/achievements are highlighted below:

375 HIV positive children have received care and support in CD4 testing, access to ARVs, access to Septrine, TB screening, nutrition, treatment for opportunistic diseases, health education and clinical monitoring.
Over four hundred families of orphaned, vulnerable and HIV+ children have benefited from the services of Paorinher in terms of counselling, provision of seeds and food supplements.
Over 721 children have received and are continuing to receive formal education at Paorinher Centre, from nursery class to primary seven.

Here are some things that Paoariner hopes to do in the future:

Provide male and female dormitories accommodating up to 400 students.
Provide its female students with sanitary towels.
provide support to young people under the age of 25 years who are disadvantaged by poverty, war or on grounds of their HIV/AIDS status through basic skill training in economic activities such as agriculture, poultry and livestock rearing, commerce, and building activities.
To advance health education, sport, advocacy and reconciliation among the young people and the affected communities by providing life support training, assisting with the provision of goods and services, and giving advice and information.

We just ask you to give as much as you can! We'd love to make a change and with your donations and prayers, you'd also be helping advance the lives of students and those reached out to by Paorinher School.

Thank you for giving us your time!

Many thanks,

Christine, Jojo, Larry, Sandra, and Olivia
