Carol, my mom, is a fighter. In November my mom was very sick, dehydrated and due to being lightheaded fell at home & spent 15 + hours on the floor until I came home.
She went to the ER on November 11, 2017 and she was admitted inpatient on November 12, 2017 due to necrosis of her right foot, basically her foot was dying due to some sort of blockage. She was also battling near kidney failure/kidney disease due to being so dehydrated and sick. At the time she was septic, had cellulitis and was very very ill.
November 15, 2017 she had her first surgery, an above the knee amputation of her right leg. They did a biopsy of a mass they found in her pelvis and diagnosed her with a stage 4b endometrial andocacinoma.
Basically she has a very large tumor in her pelvis. This tumor was the cause of the blockage and ultimate loss of her leg.
Over the past 5 months she has had 3 further surgeries on her amputation due to complications. She now has blood clots in her left leg, pulmonary embolisms, blood clots in her arms, and a blood clot in her heart.
She has had many close calls, many infections, the flu, more cellulits, pneumonia, as well as multiple strokes & possible spreading of the cancer to her blood (waiting on test results) since she has been hospitalized.
She's a fighter.
The doctors didnt think she'd survive much of what she has, they didnt think she'd improve as much as she has and I truly believe it's because she is not ready to call it quits.
She told me that her journey is not over. This is not the end and she wants to give this cancer everything she has.
She's my hero & my world.
