Fundraising for Bigmoose

Donation protected
Hi, and thanks for visiting my 'gofundme' page. Please excuse the long introduction, but please read the whole story!

Diolch am ddarllen fy hanes a’r rheswm dwi wedi dewis cefnogi’r elusen arbennig yma.

I've been a bit quiet on the fundraising front over the last couple of years. From 2011 to 2014 I grew a 'Mo' for Movember; 'putting up' with an itchy top lip was a small price to pay! In 2015, we found out a close family member had prostate cancer. We were very lucky it was picked up early and, following intensive treatment from the NHS was cleared. Having ridden the 70 mile Long Course Weekend ride in Tenby the year before, I rode the 112 mile route in 2015 raising funds for Prostate Cancer. This was the start of my newly found love of cycling.

About three years ago I heard of the great work being done by Bigmoose for 'superkids' and their families. Other inspiring stories include feeding, clothing and collecting bedding for homeless people, ‘Running for Emily’ and ‘Running for Mind’ in the Cardiff Half Marathon. Read Bigmoose's full story here here (click on the link).

Around the same time I found the amazing Cr@p Tri triathlon club. After my first two seasons of enjoying short and middle distance multi-discipline events, and supporting clubmates at Ironman Wales, I was 'persuaded’ to enter the iconic event. So, training began in earnest in October '17, and after approximately 5,000 km of swimming, cycling and running I'll 'Face the Dragon' on 9th September. If you’re not aware of what’s involved it’s a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile ride and 26.2 mile run, all on the same day. Click here for further information.

In the meantime Bigmoose have ramped up their activities and have opened an awesome coffee shop in Cardiff employing and training a homeless person. The aim is to get them back into work and give them a feeling of self-worth and lifelong transferable skills. The coffee shop is growing, and definitely worth a visit at 4-5 Frederick Street, Cardiff, CF10 2DB. However, Jeff and his team have bigger plans, and their story has inspired me to set up this fund-raising page to make some small contribution to their tireless work. Rather than just raising loads of money (I hope) we aim to hit certain targets. For example the first £100 will pay for a homeless person to attend a barista course and give them transferable skills and a better chance of employment in the wider world. We’ll be adding to these ‘targets’ as the fundraising progresses.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Please like and share on social media, and if you can, make a donation. For your info., I’ve paid for all my training, equipment and event entries with my own money and ALL money raised will go to Bigmoose.

Dwi’n falch iawn i gefnogi elusen sy’n falch o’i Cymreictod ac sy’n ymgeisio “I adael ein byd yn le gwell”. Diolch am ddarllen!

I’ll also apologise now for bombarding you with messages and reminders, but there’s only a short time left until the big day!
