Fundraiser for Sari

Hi, friends. As some of you already know, my dear friend, Sari, has been at Scarborough Grace Hospital since December 20, 2019. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her spine, hips and ribs. She has already undergone five sessions of radiation to try to ease the pain in her back and legs as she cannot walk, and has had multiple scans and tests and is on round-the-clock medications to try to manage her pain and get her mobile again. As of now, it is possible that the medication for her cancer may not be covered by her work drug plan. We are trying to sort out funding for it or eligibility for the Trillium Drug Program, which will come with high deductibles but then coverage for the drug itself.

On top of that, Sari is going to have a long road ahead of tests, appointments, treatments, therapy and the need for assistive devices and modifications in her home. She has been unable to work and her work disability benefits are also being sorted out but will be a fraction of her regular pay.

The plan is for Sari to come stay with me when she is discharged until she can transition back to her own home; she cannot manage the stairs there and will likely need help with most activities of daily living for a while, and a driver to get to appointments, treatments and to do errands.

It is going to be a complicated path and evolving situation for a while. People keep asking, “How can I help?” Right now, we would ask for support in the form of a donation to assist with the above-mentioned and myriad other things, and to help keep Sari afloat financially with all of her life bills along with these new expenses. Any amount, no matter what size, would be greatly appreciated to help ease the emotional and financial stress and strain she is facing now and into the future.  This incredible, beautiful, funny, amazing, sweet woman could really use your help.  All proceeds will go directly towards Sari’s needs, not a freezer full of meat for me.
