Fundraiser for Michigan Deaf Community

Did you know that hiring a qualified American Sign Language interpreter can cost up to $206/hour? 

The deaf community is a largely underserved population in our society. Because so much valuable information is communicated to society through airwaves, the deaf community faces significant barriers to health care access and health education. Us nursing students at the University at Detroit Mercy are passionate about providing an opportunity for communication, and we ask for your help.

Our goal is to raise $5000 dollars that would be used to provide access to qualified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for deaf individuals in the health care setting.

In addition to raising funds, we are hosting a health fair for the Michigan deaf community at the Flint Association of the Deaf on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019.
