Fundraiser for an Indian Queer Café

Donation protected
Nandini Moitra, Upasana Agarwal and Raina Roy are queer activists in Kolkata, India. They have collectively founded Amra Odbhuth Café which is a sanctuary for Queers in the city.

A place to promote queer artists and create forms of sustainable employment, Amra Odbhuth (We are Queer) hopes to create a long term, sustainable space which is by and for the queer community. The main objective of the cafe is to promote queer and trans artists and give the community a space to be vulnerable with each other without feeling threatened.

Local queer and trans artists like Sandeepta, Coup Jean, Satwaki, Theater group Alindo and many others are regular performers. They have also welcomed in filmmaker Faraz Mariam Arif Ansari (whose film S i s a k was screened in Cardiff's own Iris Prize Festival ) and non-binary, trans femme poet Alok Vaid-Menon (who recently performed in London).

As of now, they are unable to stay open on a regular basis due to shortage of funds but are pooling in resources to ensure daily functioning. The contribution from your end would make a big difference.
