Bridgetown Triathlon
Sunday, Aug. 2nd
https://raceroster.com/events/2015/2810/bridgetown-triathlon
RRANS is including a team to raise awareness and funds to help resettle LGBTQ refugees in Halifax. In some small way, the triathlon is representative of the struggle many LGBTQ refugees face when trying to escape persecution. By racing in this triathlon, we hope to shed light on the challenges LGBTQ refugees face, and overcome, in order to be free
Participants are doing various distances: olympic triathlon (1.5km, 50km bike, 10km run), sprint triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run), try-tri (300m swim, 10km bike, 3km run), individual and relay teams
What Is RRANS?
Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia seeks to be a volunteer-run, community-based resource for Nova Scotians interested in LGBTQ asylum issues and international rights. There are many ways in which we can show our support for queer communities abroad who are struggling to receive the same basic human rights protections that we enjoy in Canada.
RRANS Mission
RRANS' mission is to provide the assistance that is urgently needed to save LGBTQ refugees in their countries of first asylum so that they may reach safety in Canada. Our first step in private sponsorship is to raise enough money to support an LGBTQ refugee during their first year transitioning to life in North America - approximately $11,000.

Donations of $25 or more are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
