Fund Johnny Erban stage IV Lung Cancer battle

Hi everyone, my name is John Erban and I am setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my father Juan Pedro Erban a.k.a. “Johnny” since he was a little boy, he is 63 years old right now, he was born in Venezuela but he has been living in Miami for the last 34 years.
My father was diagnosed with a stage 4 lung cancer on November 9th 2018, so what we thought it was a bronchitis because of the symptoms, ended up in a Adenocarcinoma in his left lung and pleural fluid in his right lung making his breathing really difficult.
After a lot of tests, biopsies, x-rays, CT Scans and MRIs, the “good news” were that it turned out negative for any genetic alteration such as EGFR, ALK, etc, and it’s not spread in the brain or stomach, which means that with the right treatment we have a possibility of getting out of this together.
We are taking action at the Memorial Hospital West and Memorial Cancer Institute with the help of an amazing team of oncologists and specialists lead by Luis Raez MD FACP FCCP director of the center.
He received his first chemotherapy session on December 21st and although we are dealing with some side effects he responded incredibly well, so we are very happy and with a real positive vibe.
Until now my father was supporting himself working 10 hours per day, but because of the nature of his illness he won’t be able to work for at least another 6-8 months, although we have an insurance for part of his treatment (for 1 year) thanks to the South Broward Community Health Services, we are struggling to cover living and caregiving expenses.
Now, besides being the only family, I’m the caregiver of my father and we would really love to keep it this way because going back to Venezuela in the actual situation of the country is definitely not an option if we want him to receive the medical assistance and treatment to fight this back.
We are super thankful for anything you can give to help us get through this. It means the world to us.

Hola a todos, mi nombre es John Erban y estoy haciendo esta campaña en nombre de mi padre Juan Pedro Erban conocido por sus amigos y familiares como “Johnny” desde que era niño. Actualmente mi padre tiene 63 años, nació en Venezuela pero ha vivido en Miami por los últimos 34 años.
El 09 de noviembre de 2018 mi padre fue diagnosticado con cancer de pulmón nivel 4, así que lo que pensábamos era una bronquitis terminó siendo un Adenocarcinoma en su pulmón izquierdo y mucho líquido pleural en su pulmón derecho que dificultaba bastante su respiración.
Después de muchos exámenes, biopsias, rayos x, CT scans y MRIs, las “buenas noticias” fueron que los resultados salieron negativos en cuanto a cualquier alteración genética del tumor como EGFR, ALK, etc, y no está esparcido en el cerebro, estómago u otros órganos, lo que significa que con el tratamiento adecuado tenemos una gran posibilidad de salir adelante juntos de esto.
Está siendo tratado en el Memorial Hospital West y en el Memorial Cancer Institute por un increíble equipo de oncólogos y especialistas liderados por Luis Raez MD FACP FCCP director de este centro.
El pasado 21 de diciembre recibió su primer tratamiento de quimioterapia paliativa y aunque se presentaron algunos efectos secundarios, en línea general respondió increíblemente bien, así que estamos muy contentos y llenos de buena vibra para lo que viene.
Hasta hace un mes mi padre estuvo manteniéndose gracias a su trabajo de más de 10 horas diarias pero dada la naturaleza de su enfermedad y los efectos en el cuerpo de la quimioterapia, no podrá volver a trabajar por al menos unos 6-8 meses. Hemos conseguido milagrosamente un seguro que va a cubrir parte de su tratamiento gracias al South Broward Community Health Services pero estamos luchando para cubrir los gastos de manutención y de atención para mi padre que no están cubiertos por esta ayuda.
Actualmente, aparte de ser el único familiar cercano, soy el que está al cuidado de mi padre en los Estados Unidos y esto quisiéramos mantenerlo de esta forma hasta que mi padre mejore considerablemente, volver a Venezuela en la situación actual del país no es una opción ya que no podría seguir recibiendo la calidad de atención médica y de tratamiento que tanto necesita para luchar contra esta enfermedad.
Estamos enormemente agradecidos por toda la ayuda que nos puedan brindar, nada es pequeño, todo gesto es muy valioso y significa un mundo para nosotros.
