About Us: The Making a Difference Scholarship Fund is an independent fund not affiliated with any specific educational institution. Our mission is to help provide a quality education to children who would not otherwise have this opportunity.
The Education Problem: Most inner city schools are failing. Families in need can’t afford private schools. There is very limited space in magnet schools. Thus gifted inner city children are not properly educated and lives are wasted and our entire society is negatively affected.
Despite massive government funding of education, the problem continues to perpetuate. Below are some statistics from the Newark, NJ school system.

80% Apply to Top (Magnet) Schools
Fewer Thank 5% Attend Top (Magnet) Schools
Less Than 25% Are Prepared for HS
Only 4% of the Above Pass HSPA
60% of Schools Getting Worse
Good Schools Make a Difference: – Private, magnet and charter schools have proven that a good education makes a difference regardless of the financial and socioeconomic means of the student as documented by the statistics from the Kipp School in Newark, NJ below.
· 95% of Kipp students are minorities
· 83% are in poverty /eligible for subsidized meals
· Kipp reading and math levels are 2X
· 91% graduate HS and score and average of 1269 on the SAT
· 80% + attend college, Kipp students have gone on to Columbia, Stamford, UCal Berkley, US Air Force Academy, Rice and many more.
· Only 5% of applicants are accepted into the Kipp program VIA lottery
The Solution: The Making a Difference Scholarship fund is the solution. Using the funds from our generous donors the fund will seek out gifted children in need and provide scholarships for these students to attend to excellent schools that routinely place students in excellent high schools and are later accepted into some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country Providing scholarships to schools like this for gifted children in need will put them on a trajectory for success and will thus help our entire society.
