We are the Full Metal Jackets from Concord, Michigan. We are Team 5205, a FRC (First Robotics Competition) robotics team that started in 2013. The first two years were very rough, we were just learning the rules of FIRST and figuring out how to build a robot. The third year was better, we had more knowledge of what we had to accomplish, and our robot ran efficiently. We were able to score consistently and made our first ever alliance and playoff appearance, still we were not as good as we hoped to be. This year has definitely been the hardest and best year we've had. We've had dedication from team members that is remarkable, and most days we spend around four to five hours together building the robot and making life long friends, along the way we learned tons and gain a lot of team bonding. Two weeks before our first competition we lost a beloved team member Gabriel Sierminski. He passed away unexpectedly in a tragic accident at home. It's been hard for us to handle, but knowing that Gabe wouldn't want us to quit has motivated us to work harder and ensure that our robot is best it could be to make him proud, and honor his memory. On march 2nd, 3rd, & 4th, we competed at FIM Lakeview Distirct at Lakeview High School. We had a great showing, and we were also the top ranked offensive robot. We made it into finals placing 2nd of the 40 teams present, only because our robot was disabled due to a collision in the final match. We are currently ranked 9th in the state out of 451 FIM teams. Our goals this year include placing in the state finals and making it to worlds. Both of these goals are reachable, but we cannot go without the help of your donations. We need to raise entry fees and travel expenses. State competition is April 12-15, at Saginaw State Valley University, and Worlds are April 26-29 in St. Louis Missouri.
