From Hopkinton, to Boston, to DRU

Shane has qualified and will be running the Boston Marathon in April 2018. We are raising money for Doberman Rescue Unlimited (DRU) in Sandown NH in memory of our dear friend Joan Dunning, as well as the memory of Claire Kontos (she was founder and President of DRU at the time of her unexpected passing in May 2017). Joan Dunning was a close friend of ours who passed away from cancer in 2012. She was a true lover of all animals. It makes us very proud to run in her memory because she would always go out of her way to help any animal in need. We met Claire Kontos in October 2016 after our first fundraising effort for DRU, and it was at that time that Shane made a promise to Claire that if he ever qualified for Boston, he'd once again fundraise for DRU. So here we are, two years later, and he'll be towing the line in Hopkinton on April 16, 2018.
Your donations will help to rescue, rehabilitate, train, heal, spay or neuter, comfort and re-home so many of the dobermans that end up at DRU for various reasons. They are always in need of supplies, vet care, cleaning supplies, food, blankets and so much more that your donation with directly help fund. The staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure these dobermans are cared for and healthy so they can find them new homes as soon as possible. They are an incredible group of people dedicated to this breed!

(DRU) is a nonprofit, charitable organization whose purpose is to rescue abused, abandoned and unwanted Dobermans and place them in good, safe and loving homes. We also educate the public about Dobermans and responsible, humane animal care. Since its founding, DRU has provided rescue services for close to 3,000 dogs throughout the greater New England region and beyond. On average we usually have 30+ dogs in our care.
All rescued dogs are provided with a medical exam, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, veterinary care as needed, behavioral evaluations, training and a microchip for identification.
DRU is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that relies solely on membership dues, donations and fund-raising activities for its income."
