The intent for the Green Theatre is to restore the original building, thus preserving a part of our past and to serve the people of La Plata and the surrounding area.
The purpose of the building will be to provide space for a La Plata Area History Museum, and to promote education, entertainment, public forums, and private gatherings for the area. The building will also be available for use by schools, churches, businesses, and organizations.
The Green Theatre building, circa 1936, is a part of the La Plata, Missouri National Register of Historic Places District.
So far, we have completed the electrical rewiring and the floor replacement. The next step is to rehab the bathrooms. Our goal is to raise $10,000.
We are truly thankful to each and everyone who contributes.
