EMERGENCY BOND FUND FOR OMAR

$5,205 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 128 people in 10 months
ICE out of RVA (Richmond, Virginia) along with the following organizations: Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy, Central Virginia Sanctuary Network, Legal Aid Justice Center, Sacred Heart Center and every single individual supporting Omar. It’s a great honor to know that in cases of emergency, there's a whole army backing up the community and won’t let them fall.

Update:
Omar was successfully bailed out of ICE detention from the Peninsula Regional Jail thanks to your generosity. Over the weekend more information became available and we discovered there were two separate incidents: one in Chesterfield County, which we are still trying to learn more about, and one outside the Courthouse, where Omar was detained after appearing for a traffic violation. The information for both events was reported at the same time with few details, which led us to believe initially that it was just one incident.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available. Omar will certainly need our support as his immigration case moves through the court.

Yanet Amado, cousin of Omar, will be in charge of withdrawing these funds and disbursing to Omar's aunt to reimburse her for paying the bail. Thank you for your generosity. We will provide more updates once Omar receives an immigration court date.

This fundraiser was created to raise bail funds for Omar. He was detained by ICE at his car after appearing for his court date as he was instructed. Because of the urgency of the request, the bail amount was originally paid with a loan from Omar's aunt.
The bail funds can often be reimbursed several years later after the court closes the case, Omar and extended family have agreed that in the event the bail amount is reimbursed we will donate the $5000 to the Sanctuary Fund at the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy to continue bailing people out of ICE custody so they can fight their cases from home with the support of their families and communities.
