Hi People! My name is FerSeriousDude and my goal is to help The Imgur Free Meal Lady.
I met this awesome woman online about 6 months ago after learning what she does for the children in her village in the Philippines. Her name is Jenny (missfilipina) and along with her mom and few other locals, she attempts to feed 250-300 children every Sunday.
As of Sunday January 6th she has provided 33 Meal Days! Donations for these meals are often covered by Jenny’s supporters in the online community of Imgur, but I think more can be done! With the funds raised through this campaign we hope to provide essentials that may be missing from these children’s and their families lives. Things like crayons and paper are not seen as attainable, as shoes/sandals are a luxury.
My hope is to provide school supplies as well as some basic clothing items for the children. I would like to also offer items like coffee and biscuits for wakes, to be available to families who have lost children. Last week alone three children in the village died from measles.
Lastly, I would like to offer some financial support to Jenny herself. In the last year she was hospitalized due to her own physical health problems, and as a result lost her only source of employment. After losing her job she was then faced with the medical bills incurred during her hospitalization. These are not things she asks for assistance for, her only priority is the kids and their needs.
