Free women's health clinic

Donation protected
My name is Sandeep Khokhar, a doctor by profession who was born and raised in
India. Currently living in the Canada/Ottawa region, I am in a transition
to obtain my license as a Canadian. I am working as an assistant physician while conducting my
fellowship in pediatrics and neonatology.
In Canada we enjoy opportunities, peace and freedom, health and wealth.
Four years ago my family and I decided to open up a small charitable hospital
in rural area of India, Punjab. Our goal was to help people in need who can’t
access adequate health care due to their financial and/or family situation.
Born to a family of doctors, I can’t stop thinking about the health
care system in India, even as I try to understand the inner workings of the Canadian
health system which is amazingly well managed, and yet with much room for improvement.
I have decided to raise some funds to support the ST. JAMES CHARITABLE SOCIETY through an
upcoming event: a 2-DAY FREE WOMEN’S HEALTH CLINIC.
With your help, I plan on donating the TOTALITY of the funds raised in this
campaign to the ST. JAMES CHARITABLE SOCIETY. Managed and run under
KHOKHAR’S HOSPITAL, the society will provide both medical aid and food
supplies (in the form of ready-to- use therapeutic food - RUTF). Doctors and
staff of KHOKHAR’S HOSPITAL will volunteer under the program. The
funds raised through this initiative will allow them to better help women’s, kids
and adult patients who are currently suffering from some undiagnosed forms of severe illnesses .
Currently, women in India face numerous health issues, which ultimately
affect the economy’s collective output. Addressing the gender, class or
ethnic disparities that exist in health care and improving health outcomes can
contribute to economic gain through the promotion of healthy human beings.
No doubt, the screening program under the two-day free clinic will reveal many women suffering from
generalized
weakness from malnutrition or anemia. In addition, some of the women are likely to suffer from
complicated health issues (gynecological problems, cysts, cataracts or high blood
pressure, breast and cervical cancers) that will certainly need follow-up work.
The program that I have in mind will consist of education on the following matters:
• Women’s health for females in their 20s, 30s and 40s
• Menstrual Hygiene
• Maternal health
• Family planning
• Methods of birth control
• Mental health ( Suicide, Depression, Anxiety, Gender discrimination and
• domestic violence )
• Education on Breast Cancer
• Symptomatic patient will get Breast Exam, Pelvic exam and PAP
• Checking Immunization
$10,000 seems like a lofty goal but by sharing this initiative on social media and
personal networks we can easily make this happen together. Any and all
contributions are welcome (from Canada and abroad), no matter how small!
Though we can’t be there to help in person, we can provide support by providing
all participants in India a means to meet their basic medical needs. Please join us in this worthy cause!
No matter how big or small, every contribution counts towards meeting our shared goal.
