Computers for Underprivileged Kids
Donation protected
I am a junior at Wilton High School in Connecticut. I have been passionate about programming for the last several years, and have been teaching coding to middle schoolers for free for the past year. I also build websites and provide tech support for local non-profits. I have recently started my own company, School of Code to help expand the mission of getting young kids interested in coding.
I teach free classes in basic and advanced Python to kids in Wilton, Bridgeport, Norwalk and New Canaan. I usually teach at the town libraries where they provide computers, or kids bring their own laptops. However, some of these libraries don't have enough computers, and we are not able to sign up all the kids who are interested.
Later this summer, I will also be teaching simple programming using Scratch to special needs kids at a local charity called Circle of Friends (http://www.circleoffriendsct.org/). This is a fantastic organization that provides unique opportunities and experiences for kids with autism and other disabilities.
This charity does not have any computer infrastructure. I intend to use the money raised to buy 8 laptops through my company School of Code (http://www.facebook.com/schoolofcodeus).
I plan to buy these Chromebooks from Amazon for $250 each.

I will provide full transparency on how I spend the money and will share photos and progress from the classes I teach.
Thank You.
