FRC Team NerdHerd Going to World Championships

For the first time in the history of NerdHerd we are one step away from a competition earned spot at the FRC World Championships in Houston! Last weekend we won our district event in Lake Oswego and this week we are competing at the PNW District Championships in Tacoma. This is a huge accomplishment for any team; especially for a team of fewer than a dozen hard-working students from Yamhill County who compete against teams of 50 or more people. It is also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our seniors. Our district competitions are 30 to 40 teams, 64 teams compete at the District Championships. 600 teams from all over the world will be competing in Houston.
If we achieve this goal we will have only a few days to pay the $5000 registration fee and a week and a half to make travel arrangements. That is why we are fundraising NOW for a competition we won’t qualify for until a week from now. Please help us make this trip where we can inspire and be inspired by high schools students from all over the world as well as meet representatives from hundreds of high tech companies, colleges, and universities.
The Houston World Championships take place April 17-20, 2019. We are a team that is used to working with a restricted budget and we promise to keep our expenses down as much as possible but even so, we can not make it without help.
Every little bit counts, so please contribute what you can. Even if you can’t support us financially, please share this page with others who might like to help! Get the word out: NerdHerd is on the move!
In the event that we do not qualify for World Championships, the money will still be put to good use. Every year we have to fundraise for new tools, building materials, team transportation, uniforms, registration, and myriad other items necessary to our continued success. We would then use the money from this campaign for those purposes during our next season
