Noah Sileno -

Noah Sileno was diagnosed with High Risk B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on July 25, 2018. After the initial 8 days in the hospital, Noah was allowed to go home. Noah had to go to the clinic for platelets four days later. Unfortunately, he had an allergic reaction to the plasma in the platelets and was admitted to PICU for three days. He was then sent to the hematology floor for two more days. On that fifth day, he was allowed to go home. The next morning he awoke with a horrible nose bleed and had to go to the ER for a blood transfusion. By Wednesday, Noah had a 101.3 fever and was admitted to the hospital. It was determined he had a staph infection in his port from someone in the ER not properly cleaning before assessing his port. The antibiotics could not kill the staph, so Noah’s port was removed and a PICC line was inserted. Six weeks later, the PICC line was removed and another port was placed.

Baby Noah was inpatient for a total of 49 days. Noah lost 15 percent of his body weight and needed a feeding tube with TPN and lipids. He developed a mild Pericardial Effusion (fluid on the heart), an illeus, fluid in his intestines, an enlarged liver, and sadly, since August 2nd, has only been able to stand or walk independently a couple of times due to the chemo.

Thankfully, baby Noah did go into remission on August 27, 2018, but continues to recover from several setbacks and conditions. He currently uses a walker and still needs a feeding tube to maintain his weight. Noah will receive chemo for the next three and a half years. Despite all of this, Noah has been so strong and courageous.
