MY STORY:
I have worked with Fr. Ubald Rugirangoga since 2009 as his personal assistant and liaison in the United States when he travels here to preach and evangelize. This past December was my 10th visit to Rwanda to travel and work with Fr. Ubald in his various endeavors around his country. I am also the Executive Producer of a documentary film we are finishing on his life and work in Rwanda. (www.secretofpeace.com.)
HIS STORY:
Fr. Ubald Rugirangoga is a Catholic priest in Rwanda, Central Africa (www.frubald.com). He is a survivor of the 1994 genocide where 45,000 of his parishioners and 80 members of his family were killed. He has forgiven the murderer of his family and adopted his children to raise. Fr. Ubald began a program in his parish where victims and perpetrators continue to heal, forgive and reconcile from the atrocities of the genocide. Hundreds have reconciled through this program. He is now taking this program to other parishes and churches around his country. He has a healing gift and preaches to thousands about forgiveness, healing and reconciliation. Thousands of people have been healed physically, spiritually, emotionally and in their relationships through his prayer. Cancer, blindness, HIV/Aids, lame people can walk, and many other illnesses have been healed through his prayers. He tirelessly travels all over his country to preach and bring healing to the people of Rwanda and neighborhing countries of all faiths and walks of life. He will have anywhere from 25,000-80,000 people attend his healing services.
HIS NEED FOR A NEW CAR:
He has traveled over 250,000 miles in his car on African roads over the past 5 years to help bring hope and healing to the people of Rwanda, Burundi and Congo. His car is breaking down and can no longer safely take him the places he needs to go in his country.
We would like to help him buy a new car by the summer of 2017. He is a true man of humility and gratitude who gives of himself to all. This is something he has been praying for the past 2 years so we hope to help answer his prayer.
COSTS:
Cars and taxes are extremely expensive in his country but a necessity for his work to be able to continue to travel throughout his country and region to help thousands of people heal and reconcile from the trauma and pain of genocide and war. The car he has picked out with what he needs for traveling the back roads of Africa will cost approximately $80,000. The remaining funds will go to pay for the taxes which are approximately $20,000 to the Rwandan government.
