Hope For Eli

Hi, everyone.

My name is Eli.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to visit my campaign and hear my story. I'm 23, and have been living with chronic illness and health conditions for most of my life - a life that I sometimes question due to the quality it's forced me to cope with.

Various medical tests have revealed that my immune system is compromised, I have lesions on my brain, increased white blood cells in my spine, muscular dysfunction, arthritis, herniation of the spine, and severe dysfunction of the central nervous system that causes very serious neurological symptoms.

What started as migraines and lower back pain has progressed into a series of life-changing health issues, including but not limited to: widespread chronic pain, immobility and/or loss of mobility, cognitive impairment, severe muscle weakness, and immune dysfunction.

I am an artist, a musician, and a once athletically active person and volunteer. But since becoming faced with these adversities, I've become more and more reliant on the use of a cane and wheelchair, as it has become increasingly painful to stand for longer than 10 minutes at a time without their suport. This, in turn, has  greatly impacted my ability to pursue these passions, or discover new ones.

For the longest, I've kept the severity of my condition as best I could from my loved ones, not wanting to become a burden. But as my condition worsens, I find myself with no choice but to reach out for help wherever it's available - thus turning me to go fund me.

In order for me to potentially see improvement in my symptoms, I will need to go out of network and pay out of pocket for the treatment I need, after trying several in-network options that did not work. My family has a lot of medical debt because both my mother and I suffer from chronic health conditions and it has taken many doctors to even find a treatment that may work. Sadly, my mother had to undergo a serious surgery again recently, and money is a real struggle.

Intravenous infusions can help my symptoms dramatically. Studies show this particular treatment has a 70-75% success rate in reducing symptoms. Intravenous infusions can help dramatically improve my level of functioning, comfort, and quality of life, allowing me to get back to the things that I love, and pursue my dreams. I need to commit to a course of infusions, as well as pay to see some out of network specialists. I will hold on to hope that this will give me my quality of life back.

It is difficult to ask for support, especially as someone who has been a caregiver and advocate for others most of my life. It’s time to advocate for myself this time to get the care I need.

Anything you can afford to share with me will be greatly appreciated, and in return, you will be gifted a piece of artwork created by me.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
