Foshay International:
The mission of Foshay International is to inspire the dreams of young equestrians and to provide an opportunity for aspiring Maritime riders to compete at an international level right here in New Brunswick. This event will raise much-needed awareness for the high level of equestrian sport in Canada and help the sport's athletes to achieve future success at major games and championships.
To accomplish this goal in 2018, Foshay International needs to raise more funds. These funds will go 100% toward the implementation of this event, including services for volunteers, horse stalls and tents, care for horses, course preparation, and many other necessities for a "first ever" event of this scale in the region.
Rob Stevenson, a Fredericton native who competed as an Olympic equestrian athlete, is seeking to fulfill his life-long dream of hosting an international equestrian event at his family's Foshay Farm in Lower Jemseg, New Brunswick. He has fond memories of the many local equestrian events hosted by his parents (Janet and Bob) and grandparents (Helen and Chet Campbell) during his youth. These historic events laid the foundation for Rob's passion for equestrian sport, and his own athletic career which led him to the Olympics in 1992. Rob now works as a cardiologist Saint John, where he is close enough to Foshay to develop and maintain this international training and competition facility. He continues to volunteer in the sport both nationally (Equestrian Canada Eventing High Performance Group) and internationally (FEI Eventing Risk Management Steering Group). Through his involvement with these organizations, he has seen first-hand the need for more top international events in North America.
With the help of the Foshay International Organizing Committee (FIOC), generous sponsors, and dedicated volunteers, the dream of Foshay International has become a reality! From August 30 through September 2, this ambitious undertaking will introduce international equestrian sport to the Maritimes and showcase the paradise of the Lower St. John River Valley to the world. The event will provide a gateway for international equestrian sport in North America, ushering many athletes toward their dreams of international competition.
Help us make Foshay International as great as it can be! Your donation will help the Foshay team cover critical operating expenses associated with creating this unprecedented opportunity for equestrian sport and its athletes here in the Maritimes.
