Hope for the Children of War

Donation protected
What are we doing?

I've been invited to offer skills development to national professionals who are currently working every day to rescue child soldiers.

·         To share my skills and expertise in a way that will have a lasting impact on the children of war in Uganda.

·         To add to my global understanding of culture and the impact of trauma on children impacted by conflict.

Who am I?

A professional, a wife, a mother to beautiful, amazing daughters, and “Oma” to 5 wonderful Opasons.

I have spent a life-time providing education and opportunities for healing to people in many different countries including Mexico, India, Kuwait, UAE, the US, and Europe. Recently I have returned to Canada from 7 years in Kuwait, where I honed my skills and gained expertise in trauma counselling. I was privileged to be able to work with some stellar people to facilitate social justice, and offer humanitarian aid as a trauma specialist to the disenfranchised, the wounded, and the powerless in the Middle East.

As a life-long learner, I am passionate about providing skills development to professionals around the world, and thrilled about this opportunity in Uganda.

How am I going?

With your help.

I am asking others (YOU) to partner with me, and with Niteo Africa, and Hope North for this project. You can share in this incredible opportunity to make a real and measurable difference in the world. Some people give, and some people go. We are willing and able to GO and donate our time and expertise. Are you willing to GIVE?

We whole-heartedly believe that the people who stay by the stuff are as important as the people who go.

 Why are we going?

As partners with others already there to make their vision of a better world a reality.

·         to support an initiative local to our community,

·         to give back to those who have less,

·         to expand our own horizons (and of course)

·         to travel!

Where are we going?

To Northern Uganda where Okello Kelo Sam runs Hope North, an organization that is dedicated to rescuing child soldiers.

When are we going?

July 15 to 31, 2015

Who are we going with?

A team of 4 volunteers through Niteo Africa. Our team is made up of local professionals who are donating their time and expertise to National Ugandans already involved in the effort bring  healing and hope to the child victims of conflict by empowering and training their caregivers, and by bringing literacy to their world.

Will you partner with us?

If you do, we have some nice things to offer. I'll give you the chance to have a photo from Africa, taken by someone you know (or sort of know). One degree of separation between you and the animals and glory that is Uganda.

So go ahead. Donate, please? Maybe you'll get an amazing photo of something incredibly gorgeous. You'll certainly experience the soul-satisfying sense of having made a HUGE and very real difference.

Help me be the 'hands & feet' of the change we all want to see in the world.
