Let's celebrate our nation's independence with a bang!
Fort Dalles Fourth is excited to once again ignite the night above the mighty Columbia River and bring the largest Fireworks show in Oregon to The Dalles. It is has been with your generous assistance that this committee has been successful with multiple efforts of community celebration and support throughout the last three years, ranging from Hometown USA Days to the Veteran’s Day Salute and a two day festival & celebration full of music, food and fun capped off with a magnificent fireworks show. While after 3 years this event is still in it’s relative infancy, the FD4 committee and the Main Street Board of Directors has been carefully analyzing data and developing strategic plans to ensure the long term success of this amazing community celebration.
One of the unfortunate facts about organizing and maintaining an event like Fort Dalles Fourth is the revolving date of the holiday. While looking at ways that other communities offer celebrations and events for local residents, while maximizing the opportunity for additional tourism exposure during the busy summer months, we found that many have had great success with shifting their efforts to a consistent weekend date, thus allowing for expanded holiday celebrations and continued longterm success of the community event. By concentrating on a fixed weekend date, the committee can ramp up the coordination of activities surrounding the fireworks and the community can enjoy festivities for longer periods surrounding the July 4th holiday. Due to our unique launch site and unprecedented grassroots support, Fort Dalles Fourth is poised to become a regionally significant event now and into the future, further enhancing and showcasing the many amazing businesses, attractions and activities this beautiful region has to offer.
