For the Love of the Cats

$2,700 goal

Campaign created 5 months ago
I am writing today, for the love of my fur babies.  I have cared for many over the years, and donated to several others for the care of theirs, and to organizations that help care for feral & stray cats.  I am hoping for some good karma here from fellow cat lovers <3  You may read the story below of why I'm hoping to raise at least $2700 to help care for these beautiful companions.

Lacy is one of our several fur babies.  All of them have been rescues, except for her, because my husband fell in love with a Maine Coon Cat.  She is absolutely gorgeous and very loving.  Besides Lacy, we have 6 other cats, all rescues from the time they were kittens, most at around the age of 5-6 weeks.  We have loved them and kept them indoors at all times.  About 2 years ago, we had 2 outdoor cats decide to adopt us.  They helped themselves inside the door for love, and then we fed them and gave them a litter pan.. and they come and go as they please.  They are kept separate from our other fur babies.  All except Lacy.  Lacy is our exception to the rule.. she is allowed to sleep with us.  So we allow her access to the upstairs bedroom.  This is the only time she crosses paths with the 2 that adopted us.  They never really pay much attention to each other.

Fast forward to today.  Well, yesterday really.  I came home from work, and noticed that Lacy had an ugly wound behind her ear.  I know she had been a bit scabby for a few weeks.. I thought maybe she scratched herself.  But now, she had a bald spot and a quarter sized wound.  I took her to the vet, and she has a massive ear mite infestation, that only could have come from the 2 outside cats that just barely cross her path.  They said treatment can run up to 300$.. per cat.  Overall, we have 9 cats that will eventually need to be seen, and likely treated.  I know there will be other costs involved.. but I simply do not have 2700$ for 9 cats with ear mites.  As the tech stated.. Lacy is now our "Typhoid Mary", who has gotten the mites from the outdoor cats, and has likely spread to our other cats.  My heart is breaking, as I try to be a good cat mom, and I can't believe that I didn't see this before it got so bad.  33978832_1540397320413892_r.jpeg
