FOR THE LOVE OF ROMAN

Donación protegida
Meet our most beloved boy Roman, who is a 5 year old Alaskan Malamute. A lot of people say he looks like a Polar Bear, and he has lovingly earned the nickname "Polarmute" by his many admirer's and friends on Facebook. He, his hu-mom and hu-dad need your help. Just yesterday, after being fine all day, Roman vomited up his food, around 5 PM, that he had eaten at 11;30 that morning, and had been acting normal all day.  Shortly thereafter, we took him out to potty, and he vomited 3 times just green liquid...but had a normal stool.  He kept panting, pacing and crying.......couldn't get comfortable. He vomited one more time just some clear liquid, but that was the last time.  After that he kept water down.  He did not improve and was tender when we felt his tummy.......so by 9;30 PM, we decided to take him to the emergency vet.  I was so scared for our boy..... They took an x-ray,  looking to rule out bloat amoungst other things, and came back with what they told us was 2 possible obstructions in his small intestines......they recommended him staying there and getting IV fluids and pain meds over night, and that bill alone was going to be over $1000. Now they also required us to pay that money, in full, before we left Roman with them.  Would not give us a chance to get the funds in the morning, being that it was 1 am!! So we did what we could and ended up having them give sub cutaneous fluids and a pain shot and taking him home, as they refused to do what they recommended as best for him,  due to the financial aspect.  On their report that they sent to our regular vet, I quote "Owner declined estimates and requested home option"!! Yet they conveniently don't mention why that was.....and the tech upon check out told me that "I could take him to my regular vet in the morning if i wanted"!!!Never have i seen such a lack of compassion......             And let me say this, to clarify......it is not the vets themselves that make these rules......its the administration. That being said, i did get up right away this morning and got him in to my regular vet,  who had only gotten a partial report, and no x-rays..... So i called and requested that they send them so my vet could compare the new ones to last nights. So after all the tears, stress and feeling totally helpless to help our baby boy.......Romans new x-rays looked completely normal...the "air pockets" that the ED vet suspected was 2 obstructions,  was nothing more than air!  In the mean time, they had taken some blood and run a test for Pancreatitis.....which came  back positive.......no obstruction.......so he is hospitalized today for the IV fluids that he needs,  pain injections and rest. His diet needs to be changed to one that has low fat content as well,  because high fatty foods are what typically brings on acute Pancreatitis.....All in all, we are beyond grateful that it was not bloat, or an obstruction like first was thought.  Although it can mimic bloat, and can be very dangerous if not addressed quickly. So now there are 2 vet bills to pay, roughly $1200 total ($597 last night, and roughly $600 for today), and possibly more if he does not respond to his treatment It was recommended to me to start this fund for our boy by many friends who wanted to help him, and us...which truly touches us more than we can say..... Roman is our baby boy, and we can't imagine losing him........ Any help, even in the smallest amount, would help so very much. Any and all donations will go directly to pay for his emergency treatment over the last 20 hours........ Thank you for taking the time to read Romans emergency scare.
