Hello, I'm GrammiChelle to my 5 grandchildren, including my 7 year old grandson Jonah. He is a very loving little boy, who loves dinosaurs and goes to sleep every night with stuffed SpongeBob SquarePants, Lightening McQueen, his Jurassic World blanket and Indominus Rex. He loves to read, especially about dinosaurs, and play video games.
He he has lived off and on throughout his life with his grandfather and I because his mother, due to physical, mental and financial problems, has not been able to provide for him. He has spent the last 9 months with us and it has become clear that his mother, in spite of loving him very much, won't be able to provide for him in the foreseeable future.
Thankfully, Jonah has an aunt and uncle who love him and are willing to adopt him. Stephen and Dalyelle have already assumed care of Jonah and are providing for all his needs. They are in the process of trying to purchase a home in order to give Jonah such things as a backyard to play in. But that is not why they need your help.
Its the lawyer's fees for the adoption. It should be a fairly simple, family adoption, since Jonah's mother is willing to sign over her parental rights, and his biological father has never shown any interest in even having a picture of Jonah, so he should be willing to sign the paperwork. That being said, there are still major costs, such as background checks, filing fees, a guardian ad litem, lawyer's hourly rates and other fees. Our lawyer is asking for a $2000 retainer, which no one in our family has at this time.
This adoption is in Jonah's best interest and will protect him in the future in many ways. Please help our family to pay for this important step in providing Jonah with the family unit, a mother and father who love and provide for him and give him the stability he has lacked in his life, and that he truly deserves. Our lawyer says it's possible it could all be taken care of within just a few months time, since it seems all parties will be willing. But in order to start the process, we have to pay the retainer of $2000, and the sooner this is taken care of, the better, for all concerned. As Jonah's grandparents, we would gladly pay the fee if we had the money, but we simply don't have it. We would be so grateful for any donation, no matter how small, that you can make towards our goal!! Small amounts can add up quickly if enough people donate.
