For Bridget Naughton McNamara

Our sister Bridget McNamara was diagnosed with an Autoimmune Hepatitis shortly after she retired 6 years ago.  She had been struggling daily to do every- day tasks. Last December, Bridget was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer.  After several months of Chemotherapy she had surgery on May 22nd.  The Drs. at Mass General Hospital found more cancer in her small intestine along with additional tumors in her stomach lining.  She endured seven hours of hot chemo during her ten- hour surgery.  Bridget did go home for only one week until she was rushed back to MGH with multiple complications.  Her oncology team told the family that this recovery is going to take a very long time.  She is currently receiving nutrition through a feeding tube and she will need to have more chemo once she gets stronger as this type of cancer is very aggressive and now her liver is affected from the Autoimmune Hepatitis.   

As many of you may not know, Bridget has also been the primary care giver for two adult children with medical disabilities.  Since her retirement Bridget has kept a part time job as a home health aid up until her diagnosis in December.  That job allowed her to pay house bills.  As we all know, social security does not go a long way.   She also insisted on taking care of her 2 granddaughters two days a week to help her son and daughter-in-law. 

Bridget has had so many struggles throughout the years.  She has also never complained about her struggles.  This fund would take some of that worry away from her and her family.   We would be so grateful if you could help her out in any way that you can, every little bit helps.
