Steve Steffler Legal Fund

Donation protected
My name is Cole McKelvie. My best friend and business partner Steve Steffler passed away November 20th, 2016 in his bed from carbon monoxide poisoning. He was 36 years old and left a giant impact on the city of Edmonton and especially on it's live music scene. Steve owned no less than 4 businesses and left no will. His father has asked me to raise funds for him any way I can. We need to keep paying the lawyers to untangle Steve's "web" of businesses and because there was no will or "roadmap" to how Steve did things, it may be time consuming and costly. We want to get the businesses all sorted out as soon as possible because 2 of the businesses were internet based and based on reliable service. This service has since been interrupted a few times and the people who are looking to buy / take over the businesses need the legal authority to do so. As it stands now, Steve's internet phone customers and web-hosting customers are being handled pro-bono by very nice, trustworhty people. But this can't last forever. We need to get the legal matters sorted so we can sell the businesses off and make his parents some money as Steve was still partially taking care of them.

I was mainly Steve's business partner in his latest endeavor, Sometimes Music. It's a local Edmonton, AB record label. We put out vinyl (and other mediums) of great local music from western Canada. One portion of the legal fees will go to ensure that we, his best friends, can take over the record label and see it through to it's full potential. And as a token of our appreciation, everyone who donates $50 or more will receive a "Sometimes Music" t-shirt in their size.

It would mean the world to me, Steve's friends and his parents if we could make this happen as soon as possible. I would imagine it's hard to have peace of mind after the passing of your son, but not having to worry about financial issues would be one less burden for them to carry during this awful time in their lives. Thank you to everyone.
