Feed the poor of St. Martin Island after Hurricane

$126 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 9 people in 5 months
Created November 29, 2018
Text contribution received today from Deepan Suiit:

Since the early dawn of mankind’s onset, humans have stood their distinguished grounds for being able to collaborate and co-operate in dire hours of need, and find a solution to problems being faced by a collective Group. We LEGroup take our social responsibilities to be a key note in our scope of work and wish to act on it not just by helping but also by creating a structure where others can contribute and move with us making the world a better place.

The St. Martin Island in the West Indies has been a rather naturally rich and beautiful part of the geography only until the nature showed its destructive power. The area has been known to have troubles with Hurricanes, storms and other Coastal area related natural catastrophes, which are most certainly inevitable, but we can help this place to reborn by providing the basic necessities of livelihood after such events.

LEGroup has arranged to ship about 50,000 Lbs (25,000 kg) of rice to the area and is committed to distribute the rice for the needy by raising the necessary funds to facilitate the same. We urge you to come forth in this need of hour and drop anything that you can spare for this act of mercy can go a long way for a fellow human in Saint Martins.

Please, donate here. Thank you.

Feed the Poor of Saint Martin Island after Hurricane (ENGLISH)

We are working with the very poor communities in Saint Martin and Saint Marin Island and it has been more difficult than expected as the island is very devastated and, not only ourselves, but people in general are still struggling to work. We have 1,000 bags of rice in 50 LBS size each and it has been very expensive to deliver and inventory. Any help is welcome, so we will be able to donate all the rice bags to charity, schools, and churches. Everybody is happy with the rice and the work but still there’s lots of additional costs involved what makes it enviable even if we can see the necessity is extreme.

We will be donating the rice to the following institutions: Red Croix France, Red Cross Nederlands, Emergency Food Restaurant Marigot, and at least 10 local churches, despite giving rice to 20 different street side Creole Style restaurants.

Please, donate here. Thank you.

Grazie.

Contribution text from Cassandra O'Brien (ENGLISH)
"On Sept. 6, 2017, the island was slammed by Irma, a Category 5 hurricane that left utter wreckage in its wake. Roofs were whisked away, and shops were knocked askance. Floodwaters inundated hotels, grocery stores, schools and homes. 90 percent of all structures were destroyed by the tragic devastation that gripped the island with no remorse for anything standing in its path.

St. Maarten has seen much improvement in rebuilding what was lost. (The Dutch Side) St. Martin on the other hand is a different story. The progress in rebuilding has been much slower. (The French side) The entire Coastal development and business areas were completely destroyed.

Almost two years later the impact of this catastrophe is still being felt as the world seems to be moving on without pause.  A main source of income for the island is the tourism.  Locals report that business is "Slow" "Very Slow." As a result of slowing business the people who live here year round have suffered greatly.

We will take the rice to the Red Cross, Schools, Churches, and to the community as an effort to help during this dark time.

I'm giving you the opportunity to help in a very important cause.  St. Martin is in desperate need of help. When others are howling.. It is when we roar! Together we can and will make a difference in the world but i need you to join me in my efforts of doing this!"

Saint-Martin a désespérément besoin d'aide.
