Longboarding for the World Record

Donation protected
Jake Freed is a self-proclaimed skating superhero. He's a longboard enthusiast with a military background and has a taste for adventure. He's an Arizona native, raised in the Phoenix area and is the the oldest of six.  After high school, he joined the military and was trained as an aviation mechanic, where he can credit his punctuality and highly skilled ability to fold and stow anything wrinkle free.

In 2013, Jake completed a 2700-mile trek across the United States, from Mesa, Arizona to Washington DC. He put his love of skating, his stubbornness, and strong will to good use! After completing many shorter trips up the west coast and all over Arizona in 2015 and 2016, he is ready for another big ride! On May 6th 2017, he took off for the second time across America. This time the stakes are higher and the road is longer. He will be attempting to beat the WORLD RECORD for the longest distance traveled on a board, set by New Zealander, Robert Thomson back in 2008, who rode 7555 miles (12159 kilometers). Jake left from Gilbert, Arizona and will be traveling to Key West, Florida, up the East Coast and back across the Midwest, for a total of thirteen states and approximately 8500 miles. Jake will be skating 12 to 16 hours a day, covering 20 to 100 miles daily depending on climate and terrain. Inspiring others to pursue their own dreams and goals, fuels his passion and determination to bring this title home to the United States. He’s an ex-sailor on a mission to beat the world record! All proceeds will be used to fund Jake’s journey across America including hotels, food, water, clothing, batteries for technical requirements for Guinness and most importantly a possible lead-car. Jake has had many successful trips in the past without the use of a teammate or lead-car; however, due to the hefty requirements and rules set by Guinness World Records, he may have overestimated his ability to conquer this feat on his own. With enough money raised, Jake’s girlfriend, Courtney, is willing to pack her bags and meet him out on the road. He appreciates all of your support and donations to make this trip a success.
