A few months ago, I was diagnosed with DCIS -  Ductal Carcinoma In Situ, "in Situ" meaning, in original place, a pre-invasive cancer, meaning, it was confined to within the milk duct, and had not begun to spread yet. I then underwent a lumpectomy, and although the doctors said the margins were clear, which means they are pretty sure they got it all, they said there is no way to tell if some of the cancerous cells may have escaped the surgery. So, I am going to have to take 4 weeks of radiation treatments, which will start on the 24th of January. The treatments will be Monday through Friday, with a break on the weekends. This means unexpected expenses for us, including gas for all the trips, which will be to the Duke Cancer Center for Women in Raleigh, NC, as well as lost work for Keith, as we only have one vehicle, and it desperately needs new tires and at least an oil change, etc, in order to keep it in good running condition for all of this . Most of you who know our story know that we are both on disability, mine mostly because of PTSD and problems because of a traumatic head injury in a car accident in Nov. of 1985, and a neck injury that required a cervical fusion (I now have a titanium plate and screws in my neck) from an accident in which I was rear ended at full speed at a stop light, due to a driver on a cell phone in 2003. Keith is a two time kidney transplant recipient, currently working as a substitute teacher since he has not been able to get a position in his field, most likely due to the 9 years he couldn't work full time because he had to go back on dialysis before the kidney became available for him. Although I am currently working diligently on my writing, including a latest fiction novel that Keith and I have both brainstormed together, using his expertise from his work experience in corrections, and a faith/inspirational book, which I hope to have available sometime this year, which will have my testimony about my near death experience in the 1985 accident, as you can imagine, this medical crisis, and the expenses involved, is just hitting us at a very difficult time right now.  Any help you can give will certainly be appreciated, even if it is just $5. Thank you, and God bless you for your help.
