As many of you may or may not, Kelly and the entire Florido family have worked tirelessly raising money and supporting the CureJM foundation as well as raising awareness for autism all while her and her husband dedicate their lives helping others as nurses in the Chicagoland area.
On Saturday March 23, Kelly and Ray took off to Las Vegas to celebrate their anniversary. Shortly after landing, Ray nearly passed out and developed slurred speech. Kelly acted quickly and got Ray to the hospital. Ray was diagnosed with a stroke and treatment luckily was started quickly due to Kelly's quick recognition. The doctors stated that if he hadn't made it at the time he did, in another 30 minutes there would have been devastating results.
Ray and Kelly are still in Las Vegas while Ray is working hard to recover. He is stable and working with physical, occupation and speech therapy. As many of us in the medical field know, the road to recovery from a stroke is a long and hard one not only for Ray, but the entire family. It will be months until Ray can return to work full duty, and at this time they are unsure when Ray will be able to fly home.
I ask that all of you dig deep to help the Florido family as they have all helped us in so many ways in the past. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, Ray and Kelly will be unable to work which means no income to pay monthly bills, car payments, mortgages, insurance, and will have to postpone celebrating their anniversary to a later date. Please pass this on and pray for strength for the entire Florido family.
