Flooded Music Replacement

$7,465 of $23,000 goal

Raised by 58 people in 4 months
The Woodlands Concert Band is an adult community band that serves the north suburbs of Houston, Texas with a series of concerts and other musical activities. Collaboration with other area bands and a concerto competition for area high school wind and percussion players that last year presented $1500 in prize money to the winners are two of the band’s most recent endeavors.  Founded in 2000 with a membership approaching 90 members, the band is open to anyone who wants to continue making music following high school and college, the great majority of members involved in professions other than music. By charter, concerts are free to the public. The band is supported by donations and a small fee assessed individual players.

Flooding from Hurricane Harvey at the end of August destroyed most of the band’s music library. The facility which was nowhere close to the flood plain and where the library was housed could not handle the 35+ inches of rain that fell on the community, and four feet of water flooded the room. 283 pieces of music, or 63% of the library was destroyed at a replacement cost of $22,994. Unfortunately, some of the music is irreplaceable because it is permanently out of print and no longer available. We are hopeful that with your generous donation, we can get back to the same status we were at before Hurricane Harvey affected the lives of so many. Anything that you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us so far. Keep sharing! During rehearsal last night I collected an additional $1,000 in donations! Gofundme doesn't allow offline donations for certified charity campaigns like this one so I will do my best to update our facebook page and send updates this way with our overall donation total, which is $2,050 as of noon Friday. Thanks again everyone!
