Flood Relief for Northern Province Tamils

Thousands of people have been displaced as a result of continued flooding in Northern Province.  Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts have been worst affected. According to Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Centre's December 27th 2-18 report, over 114,458  people (36,594 families) have been affected due to the heavy floods and strong winds in the Northern Province. 10,424 people are displaced and living in 32 shelters. People have been evacuated out of their communities, not knowing if they would have a home to return to. Evacuated residents find themselves in need of a place to stay, food, water, basic necessities and school supplies. As of December 27, 2018, in Mullaitivu district; 2,383 houses are partially or fully damaged: 4,889 people are living in shelters; out of which more than 1,100 people are students.
 
Kalvi Connections is committed to providing assistance to students in need and has decided to raise funds to provide school bags and supplies to all students who have been affected in the Mullaitivu district.
