Flood relief for Dave & MarCella

Donation protected
Funds are needed to help with cleanup, repairs, and replacement of necessary items lost and damaged - due to flooding inside and outside the home in the early hours of Thursday, July 20th. The destruction caused by 5 feet of water in their partially finished walkout basement is pretty devastating.

The unfinished part of the basement housed my dad's tool collection & work shop area in addition to the usual; washer/dryer, water heater, furnace, etc. Not to mention the 30+ years of things one would gather in their basement. The finished part of the basement was their home office / computer room which included important paper and electronic records, furniture, sports memorabilia, an extensive vinyl album collection, books, tv, etc as well as their computer, printer, scanner, camera, the list goes on and on - and it's all damaged beyond repair. Not all of these items are necessities and not all can be replaced but I thought they were still worth mentioning so you'd get some idea of what they're dealing with.

Everything is everywhere and of course water logged, and there is lots and lots of mud. They are still trying to tackle the cleanup of this disaster which in and of itself feels like a devastating task. If you know my parents then you know they are no longer spring chickens... And could use a lot of help. Funding is needed for cleanup and repairs (the entry door for instance is a goner) before they can even begin to replace the necessities. They have been working tirelessly on this mess since Thursday and say the progress is almost imperceptible.

As you can imagine, their loss is heartbreaking. They are trying to take it all in stride, after all it's just "stuff" and thankfully nobody was hurt. Insurance leaves much to be desired in the way of coverage and is of course moving at a snail's pace- having already pushed back the date the adjuster will visit to the middle of next week. Quite a bit of the destruction left in the wake of this flood will not be covered at all (including "contents").

If you are willing and able to help it is very much appreciated!! Words cannot express how thankful and appreciative we are of the help and support they have already received - and will continue to be for any and all support any of you can provide - even just the sharing of this GoFundMe campaign!

My parents are hardworking people that would and have given the shirts off their backs to help someone in need. My dad is semi retired (and worth mentioning a veteran of the US Air Force, perhaps we can look for support on some military forums?) and my mom still works full time.  Resources, specifically time and money are low.  I am 600+ miles away and trying to find any and all ways I can help and support them just like they've done for me my whole life. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

UPDATE
I've been asked what the $15k will be spent on and wanted to share the answer with everyone. The estimate from ServicePro is $9k and in addition to that donations will go towards;
-dumpster
-entry way & door
-washer & dryer
-water heater
-furnace
-electrician/wiring

UPDATE 2
Update!!
First- Thank you so very much to everyone for all the help and support so far!!! In addition to 112 shares, people have been donating online and in person, (including manual labor) and they couldn't be more grateful for all of it!!

The basement is finally empty (except for mud. Wouldn't you know- it rained again this morning so no shortage of mud outside either). My mom's brothers and nephew came in full force and helped clear everything out. The house is still without hot water (fun and invigorating) but they did gain agreement that insurance eventually has to cover a water heater!! Furnace too!

I am happy to be updating this with the news that the gap is closing! We can bring our total goal down to $9000!!!! Honestly we just can't thank everyone enough for all the help received so far. That's a huge dent.

We still have a long way to go but we are making headway. Thank you again and please keep sharing and helping us get donations if you are able/willing!!

Update 3:
Updated goal!! Thank you to all that have donated and/or shared this link! We received 3 paper donations this week totaling $325, including$250 from 95.7 The Rock Foundation! Thank you all so very much! ❤️ still have a long way to go and although I'm sure you're sick of seeing it, I'm asking for more help. Again. Even $10 makes a difference, if you can. ❤️ My brother and some awesome coworkers helped get the shed back in business - still trying to repair a few power tools. I'm hoping the basement will be ready for some function again soon (waiting on funds to pay the pros 50% upfront for the detailed cleaning & final drying) I'll send an update when that happens

You can see from the pictures how high the water got in the basement and what an utter mess they are trying to tackle as a result - although I'm not sure the pictures do it justice.
