Flathead County Sheriff K9

$9,535 of $15,000 goal

Raised by 53 people in 1 month
Created February 18, 2019
******The community support for the Flathead County Sheriff's Office K9 program has been electric and exciting! We are humbled by the outpouring and benevolence of our donators! Since we have surpassed our initial goal in less than 48 hours, we are raising it to $15,000. We see that this community is just as passionate as we are for the K9 program, and look forward to reaching the new goal. Keep up the good work! Like, comment, share, and give!******

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office, under direction of the newly elected Sheriff Brian Heino, is seeking to start a canine program. The purpose of the canine program is for narcotics detection and diversion, suspect tracking and apprehension, officer safety, school support, and community outreach. Our office's goal is to have a narcotics detection dog in training and actively working on a proactive unit by fall. The complete vision is to have four canine units in five years. Our office is invested in starting the program with deputy wages but in order for the Sheriff's Office to start a canine program, we need distinct and sustained community support. The cost for a canine program is approximately $25,000 per dog. This covers the cost of the dog, training for the dog and handler, equipment for vehicles, handler equipment, vet bills, and certifications.  The funds we are receiving will be going to the Flathead Community Foundation, a local non-profit that is helping the Sheriff's Office start the K9 program. If you are interested in a receipt for your donations, please contact us and we will make arrangements to accommodate you. We need community support! We appreciate your consideration
