Flagon & Dragon fundraising luncheon is a biennial event initiated in 1992 when a small group of businessmen met and raised almost $2000 initially donated to the Variety Club of Queensland.
The drive to fundraise was steered on by a personal experience by one of these businessmen and his son, and subsequent events raised funds that were donated to the Children’s Wards at both Mackay Base and Mackay Mater Hospitals. These funds allowed the Hospitals to purchase equipment allowing children to be treated at home rather than travelling afield.
25 years on, 13 luncheons later and the Mackay region have benefited to the tune of over $1,000,000 due to the hard work of a few, and the tremendous support of many. We intend for our 2017 fundraising year to be very special indeed.
Our target for 2017 fundraising is $250 000. We need your help to achieve this.
The Flagon & Dragon organising committee are devoted to raising much needed funds for sick children and their families within the Mackay region. In 2015/16 the Flagon & Dragon raised over $180 000 with over $74 000 allocated to the children's wards of the Mackay Base Hospital, as well as local regional hospitals.
