Fix the dam

Donation protected
For over 15 years there has been such turbulence in my sister's life between the DNR and DOT making her life a living HE__.  They have made so many demands on what she needs to do to keep her income of the campground coming in. My sister is disabled, and runs a campground called Green Valley A Place in Time.

The DOT brought in  a major highway through her property taking the frontage portion of her property and her home. Due to this they had to rebuild a new home on the property, where she took care of disabled adults and did respite for other disabled adults. With all the construction upsetting the people she cared for she was forced to close her business. She now depends on the campground and her husband's income to keep things going. They had to  move campsites, reroute driveways, water and electrical for campers due to change.

Then the DNR  said they had to put in a $28,000.00 culvert to be able to access the back portion of the property. Along with all this the DNR has threatened to take the pond on their property and make it a wetland. In other words a huge hole full of sewage smelling mud, gnats, mosquitos and no longer the thriving fishing place for campers and birds it is today.  The DNR made them take down the water level and said they need to replace the dam to their expectations by fall which will cost them another $45,000.00. This dam has been there for over 50 years. The pond is home to turtles, bass, bluegills, crappies, frogs, a wide variety of birds, and yes is known see a few people dip their toes.

I spent the day there this weekend like I do at times. If you love nature and peacefulness you will want to check it out. While I was there we saw hummingbirds, robins, barn swallows, red winged black birds, orioles, blue herons, cranes, mallards, wood ducks, geese, and nuthatches this is to just name a few. The eagles come at times and so do the diving ducks. Deer, fox and a variety of other wild life abound the property. We did the annual tree check after winter and she has almost every tree you can think of planted there.  The there I the abundance of varieties of flowers and flowering bushes everywhere.  To make it even more special a tribute to our veterans with statues, flags for each branch and a seating area to reflex if need be. This is such a great nature preserve so if you would like to help us save the pond, please do so. Come and visit anytime and ask for Donna.
