Fishbowl Festival of Community, Food, Arts, & Culture is a DIY, community-sourced festival that occurs annually in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from February 20th to March 20th.
The festival falls during the time of Pisces (hence, 'Fish'bowl) but it doesn't have a whole lot to do with astrology other than that (unless folks want it to!). The purpose of Fishbowl is to act as a sort of an incubator for ideas, an opportunity for individuals and organizations to launch new events or initiatives or spread the word about work they're already doing. The festival also strives to provide a platform for, and support folks that may be left out of mainstream events and organizing in SSM and contribute to efforts towards building community and social capital, social inclusion, and social justice.
Several citizens, organizations, and businesses have collaborated over the last four years to present a diverse range of events and activities during Fishbowl including workshops, meals and performances. Most of these events have been offered at a low cost or on a Pay-What-You-Can basis. Since 2016 hundreds of people have participated.
Fishbowl Festival is so fortunate to have so many collaborators that have worked to make things possible; volunteering time, expertise, equipment and venue spaces.
This year we're looking to fundraise for:
* event facilitator/artist fees / honorariams
* accessibility costs (ie. bus fare, child care...)
* marketing (posters, website)
* co-ordination fees
The impact of this festival has been vast and your support will help us to continue and work towards compensating those involved. It will also help people find out about, and make it to the fest.
