Hurricane Harvey

$5,000 goal

Campaign created 9 months ago
God has opened a door for us to show the power of Gods' love, and the depth of His compassion. Starting this a Friday September 1st, The Place Where You Belong, Connect and Grow will be a place Where You can Serve!

Our church will open its doors as a shelter to those in need. We are organizing to feed, clothe and house people until the 15th of September. Let them feel the mighty hand of God through you smile, sacrifice and service by volunteering.

Donations have started to pour in!

We are grateful for al the calls and emails checking on the status of our campus and our Hurricane Harvey Mission effort. Today, leaders from the church have gathered to prepare the building to serve God's children.

Many have asked:
1. What are our current needs?
2. How can I contribute?
3. When can I volunteer?

I Needs:
We are preparing our facility to sleep up to 75 people in our facility. For this, we are in need of:
• Twin size Cots
• Blankets, Sheets & Pillows
• Twin size Air Mattresses
• Hygiene items
• Baby items like diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, etc.
• Water and drinks
• Laundry Detergent

II. Contribute:
The church will be open for physical contributions Thursday 8-31 starting from 9 am to 6:30 pm. Our team will be organizing all material to distribute for Friday.

III Volunteer:
1. A Google Document is being prepared and will be released when complete. We will be staffing the shelter in 3 hours shifts from 6:30 to 6:30, and then two 6 hour shifts from 6:30 am to 12:30 am, and 12:30 am to 6:30 am.

Thank you for all that have focused their resources to First Met. As we update you, donations continue to pour in.

Please continue to pray, roll up your sleeves and prepare to Serve!

We were blessed this week to start off with a contribution from Virginia. This donation was the combined effort of Bethany Baptist Church and the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta. They were able to fill an 18 wheeler with supplies and clothing that would fill the gymnasium twice with resources for those whom were affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Throughout the week, volunteers sacrificed not only time, but their resources, choosing to put others before their own needs. Right at 20 men, women and teens worked hard to unload the resources, and then over 30 volunteers came to fold and stage the resources to be gathered by those in need.

In addition to blessing our local community, our community partners were able to share these resources with those they serve. We are honored to be connected with groups like Cook Middle School, Woodwinds Lakes Rehabilitation, Building and Restoring Hope Inc. Church of the Nazarene, Chamillionaire, Pay it Forward, The Rhodes School, Dream Out Loud Inc..
