Of the many tribes of people living in mountain villages of the Philippines, the Kalanguya tribe of more than 50,000 had never been exposed to the Christian Gospel until the mid 1960’s when missionary families began living among them. Our family moved to a Kalanguya village in 1967 under New Tribes Mission, now called ETHNOS360.  We had two small children, Dan, age 3 and Kim, age 1.  Our communication with the people was limited as the Kalanguya had their own distinct language and culture and also no written language at that time.
Medical work and teaching literacy along with language and culture studies were bridges of trust to gain the right to speak to the spiritual need in the lives of the Kalanguya.  Curious and eager for me to teach them in their own language about the creator God and His purpose for them as His creation, many Kalanguya exercised faith in the Christian Gospel which set them free from a life of fear resulting from their spirit world beliefs.

During the years of teaching and training the Kalanguya believers to carry the Gospel to other villages, the New Testament and some Old Testament portions were translated and printed along with commentaries and teaching curriculum for the teachers and leaders of the now 30 Kalanguya churches.26458504_1514070293.6763_funddescription
After we completed the revision and reprinting of the Kalanguya New Testament, Kalanguya mother tongue translators were equipped to continue to translate the entire Old Testament.  Working together with us, as their translation consultants, the Old Testament was completed and checked earlier this year.  Now the entire Bible is being prepared with footnotes and cross-references for printing in 2018.
Your gifts will enable the Kalanguya Christians to have the ENTIRE Bible printed for the FIRST time in the Kalanguya language.   THANK YOU for considering giving to this project!

The cost to print the entire Bible for the Kalanguya Christian Churches, in the Kalanguya language, will exceed $100,000
, however, this project has been initiated to help defray those costs and jumpstart this enormous endeavor.

We are headed back to the Philippines on Sept 13 to do the final check on the Kalanguya Bible! With the completion of the Old Testament, Margie and Sarah have been reading the text of the Gospels and Acts and Bob has been working thru the Epistles. Pray for them as they sit down together this Fall, make necessary improvements, add the explanatory footnotes to bring Old and New Testaments together and get this all ready for print by December!

Margie writes from the Philippines: "It seems that the whole Kalanguya (nation) has individually come to our door at CFM asking to buy a songbook or a whole Bible and I feel like a disappointment every time I say, 'Sorry, all the songbooks and New Testaments are gone but we have a plan to reprint the songbooks and soon print the entire Kalanguya Bible'. And they say, 'Will they be ready next month?' Lol, nobody seems to understand the amount of time and the process it takes to get a book printed. On the other hand, this is also very encouraging because we know people are waiting to use the songbooks and Bibles when we finally get these revised and published."

We are asking as many of our fellow believers as possible to donate to this project to see the first printing of the entire Bible in the Kalanguya language become a reality. Thanks and God bless!

We would never read a mystery novel starting with the last chapter because we would miss out on discovering the clues that led to the conclusion. The Bible is somewhat the same in that the Old Testament contains a mystery that comes to fulfillment in the New Testament. We missionaries taught the Kalanguya people God's progressive revelation in the form of stories from the Old Testament revealing all the clues that let them know what God's purpose is that comes to fulfillment in the New Testament.

The New Testament was translated first along with Genesis and portions of Exodus. It was the first book ever printed in the Kalanguya language for which the people were very appreciative. But they let us know in no uncertain terms that they wanted the whole Bible in their language! Now after 50 years of ministry with the Kalanguya, the entire Bible has been translated and is now in the preparation process for printing.

A big thanks to those of you who have donated to this project already through this media. We are praying that God would lay it on the hearts of many others to donate whatever they can to bless the Kalanguya with the complete revelation of God's Word in written form.

I remember one time when there was problem with a few of the believers and some of the men came to me to ask my advice. After stating the problem one of the men said to me, “We want to know what God’s Word says about this, because whatever it is, that is what we are going to do.” This was another indication of the value they placed on the Word of God and a further opportunity for me to teach them that while God’s Word does not have a simplistic solution to every problem, it does provide principles to guide us to do what is right in every situation. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 We appreciate your participation in getting the whole Bible into the hands of these dear believers.
