Firefighter Mike Telford, Injured On-Duty

Donation protected
On 10/6/2018, Firefighter Paramedic Mike Telford was struck by a vehicle while working an accident on I20 in Hutchins with the Hutchins FD.  The vehicle crashed into the police car that Mike was standing in front of and the police car subsequently hit him. Mike suffered 4 broken ribs, 4 fractured vertebrae, and a lacerated kidney.  Mike has not been able to work since the incident and is undergoing physical therapy and medical procedures in hopes that he is able to someday return to his passion as a career Firefighter and Paramedic.

Mike and his family need financial help, as they are experiencing a significant decrease in income while he is not able to work.  His salary is decreased to the minimum base amount with no overtime or holiday pay.  He is also unable to work his part-time job, which helps support him and his family.

Mike and I have been close friends since we met in the fire academy.  He put himself through Fire, EMT, and Paramedic school while working as a youth pastor at a local church.  We have been great friends since then and his friendship has had a major impact on my life.  He performed the wedding ceremony for my wife and me in 2007, and he is very much loved by our family.  I am setting up this fundraiser to help him and his family as they go through this challenging time.  Thank you for any amount you are able to give.
